Apostille of the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Documents issued in the United Kingdom bearing an official signature and seal such as powers of attorney, notarial certificates, Wills, Probates, birth, marriage and death certificates all require legalisation at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London if they are to be accepted by the Spanish authorities. The Foreign Office will affix a seal and certificate to the documents called the Apostille. The Apostille authenticates the signature and seal on the document, making it ready for use in Spain.
